Who can do this:
The individual whose identity must be verified. Identity verification cannot be completed on someone else’s behalf.
Basefund uses identity verification to help confirm that the people involved in a disbursement are who they claim to be. Identity verification is separate from signing in and separate from validating a receiving bank account.
Identity verification is part of both Secure Closings and Secure Transactions. Basefund displays an action when verification is required for your role or disbursement.
When identity verification is required
Basefund displays an identity-verification action when verification is required for your role or disbursement.
A completed verification is reused while it remains valid. You do not need to repeat the process for every transaction unless the verification expires or Basefund requires you to verify again.
Complete identity verification
Sign in to Basefund using your individual work email.
Open the applicable closing or transaction.
Open My Actions or select the identity-verification prompt shown for your assigned disbursement.
Select the option to begin verification.
Follow the secure on-screen instructions and provide the requested information.
Submit the verification.
Return to Basefund and review the displayed status.
The information requested may depend on the verification workflow presented to you. Complete the process using your own information and do not send identity documents or sensitive personal information to other transaction participants by email.
Understand identity-verification statuses
Action required: Identity verification has not been started or additional information is needed.
In review: Your information has been submitted and is being reviewed. No additional action is required unless Basefund prompts you.
Verified: Identity verification is complete and remains reusable while valid.
Failed: Basefund could not complete the verification. Review any instructions displayed and contact Basefund Support if you cannot continue.
Expired: The previous verification is no longer valid. Complete the verification process again.
Coordinators and Co-Coordinators may be able to see whether verification is complete, but they cannot complete it for you.
Identity verification and bank-account validation
These are separate security controls:
Identity verification confirms the individual.
Bank-account validation confirms the receiving account.
Completing one does not complete the other.
Insurance eligibility
The required identity verification and bank-account validation must both be complete for a disbursement to qualify for Basefund transaction insurance.
If you cannot complete verification
Confirm that you are signed in with your individual work email.
Follow any retry or resume instructions displayed by Basefund.
If the status remains Failed, Expired, or otherwise requires attention, contact Basefund Support.
